A mesoscopic model for thermal–solutal problems of power-law fluids through porous media

چکیده

A mesoscopic method based on the lattice Boltzmann for thermal–solutal incompressible non-Newtonian power-law fluids through porous media is introduced. The macroscopic equations of different representative element volume (REV) models are presented, and various REV reported. general model two- three-dimensional cases their derivations shown. To demonstrate ability proposed method, natural convection double-diffusive Newtonian in cavities studied, results validated against previous findings. Finally, a cubic cavity filled with fluid simulated by method.

Mobility of power-law and Carreau fluids through fibrous media.

The flow of generalized Newtonian fluids with a rate-dependent viscosity through fibrous media is studied, with a focus on developing relationships for evaluating the effective fluid mobility. Three methods are used here: (i) a numerical solution of the Cauchy momentum equation with the Carreau or power-law constitutive equations for pressure-driven flow in a fiber bed consisting of a periodic ...

Flow control of fluids through porous media

This paper discusses flow control of fluids through porous media, specifically related to its application in petroleum science. The flow of fluids is described by the Boussinesq equation with mixed boundary conditions; a Neumann boundary condition describes no flow at the outer boundary of the porous media and a nonlinear boundary condition describes the interaction between the porous media and...

A “v2-f Based” Macroscopic K-Ε Model for Turbulent Flow through Porous Media

In this paper a new macroscopic k-ε model is developed and validated for turbulent flow through porous media for a wide range of porosities. The morphology of porous media is simulated by a periodic array of square cylinders. In the first step, calculations based on microscopic v2 − f model are conducted using a Galerkin/Least-Squares finite element formulation, employing equalorder bilinear ve...

Comparison of Quadratic and Power Law for Nonlinear Flow through Porous Media

The quadratic and power laws are two typical formulations that can be used to extend the Darcy law to non-Darcy flows through porous media. Both laws are reformulated in the dimensionless form in this study. They are then evaluated by fitting to experimental data with specified variations in seepage velocity, which were specifically collected for a simplified ordered porous model. The results s...

Monte Carlo simulation of flow of fluids through porous media

This simulation employs Monte Carlo technique for studying fluid flow through a porous medium in the capillary regime. The medium has been modelled as a 2 or 3-dimensional network of elements, some of which are randomly closed to the fluid flow. Dijkstra's algorithm has been employed to identify the least-resistance pathway, which is instrumental in determining the minimum pressure required to ...
